Veterans Clinic 2010

At the Veterans Clinic, veterans and their family members were served with Attorney Grievance, Child Support, Consumer Law, Contract, Probate , Property, Taxes, Trusts/Wills, and VA benefits issues.Frank Furleigh and VFW post members, as well as two foreign exchange students from Thailand – Kade and View, helped with set up. Gail Furleigh, Frank’s wife, provided free lunch for volunteers and veterans.Abel Guerra of the Texas Veterans Commission graciously offered to come to the clinic and be on hand to field veteran benefits questions. Kay Sims, Ashley Grogan and Ron Riojas of the Houston Bar Association graciously met with the clinic coordinator in the weeks leading up to the event to offer the wisdom they’ve gained from their clinics.

National Adoption Day 2009

Jeff Kilgore, board member of the Galveston County Bar Foundation presents a $1,000.00 check to Judge Janis Yarbrough, the presiding judge for the adoptions to be presented on November 21, 2009. The special adoptions hearings held at Moody Gardens are presented by voluntary attorneys and attorney ad litems representing children leaving the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services custody and going to permanent new homes with their new adoptive parents.
